And he did! On Nov. 2, the anticipated biopic about Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, premiered breaking box office records. Actor Rami Malek played the iconic Freddie Mercury, Gwilym Lee as Queen’s lead guitarist Brian May, Ben Hardy as Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor, and Joseph Mazzello as Queen bass guitarist John Deacon.

Directed by Bryan Singer, and produced by Graham King and former Queen manager Jim Beach. Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor also served as creative and musical consultants.

The film goes inside the formation of Queen and the life of Freddie Mercury who passed away from AIDS in 1991.

Bohemian Rhapsody’s first scene was a flashback of one of the most famous concert Queen ever played, Live Aid in 1985, being one of the best live performances in music history. The scene was the exact replica of the set at Wembley Stadium, and with Malek’s unbelievable performance, it was hard to tell if it was Mercury or Malek on stage.

The film goes behind the life of Freddie Mercury and when he first joined the band Smile, with May and Rogers, later renaming the band to Queen after Deacon joins. All actors were chosen by the members of Queen, Rogers and May. Malek added fake teeth to look more like Mercury, but with his moves and the way he spoke, the resemblance was uncanny.

This film includes Queen’s greatest hits “Love Of My Life”, “Another One Bites The Dust”, “We Are The Champions”, and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

The film did lack details of how the name Queen was formed, and the timeline of events was off. But it did show this new generation why Freddie Mercury was one of a kind.

Are you a Queen fan or want to watch a good movie with amazing music? Then this movie is for you!
