The annual juried Student Art and Design Exhibition opened on the evening of Friday, March 31st with a reception honoring the featured works in the Barry Gallery of the Reinsch Library.

The juried exhibition features a variety of student works, including fashion design, graphic and media design, photography, and fine art from Marymount’s Fine Art, Media Design, and Fashion Design departments.  The pieces are on display March 31-May 5.

The reception included the release of the annual BlueInk Student Literary Arts Magazine which features both visual and literary art pieces. The pieces include extracurricular work by students in addition to coursework for various departments of the university. BlueInk student Chief Editor Jen Carter performed her spoken word poetry piece that appears in the BlueInk at the opening. This year’s BlueInk Art Director was Rebecca Stibrik, and Brittany Mansourimoaied and Sara Elbayya were on the art staff.

Stibrik, a senior and the Art Director of Blue Ink, attended the reception and praised the event for a good turnout and high quality content. “Presenting art and design in a setting that is accessible and still highlights the work involved can give people the opportunity to appreciate it in the way it was intended,” she said.

Awards were given to the best literary pieces and artwork appearing in the BlueInk.
