From the Editor-in-Chief
Marymount community,
Welcome to the new online Banner. Our staff is proud and excited to finally bring our student newspaper into the 21st century. We believe this transition enables us to provide more timely news articles with information more useful to the community’s day-to-day life. Moving online also means a more engaging Banner experience, with diversified content and opportunities to contribute.
The Banner staff will continue to dedicate ourselves to accurate reporting about the happenings of the Marymount community. We hope that as an online publication, you can count on us to consistently inform you of important events and decisions that impact you as a Marymount student, alumnus, professor, or other member of our community. We aim to serve as a source informing you on a wide range of subjects, from Student Government budget decisions, to who won last night’s basketball game, to helping you find a local coffee shop perfect for exam studying. We commit to reporting about the Marymount community in an objective and fair manner.
With that said, this is only the first step in giving our sole student-based news publication the vibrant pulse our student body deserves. The Banner will continue to work to bring you timely stories unique to the Marymount community. But if we truly want to do that, we still need you.
As our school continues to work on improving student life, renovating facilities, and tackling issues facing higher education nationwide such as tuition increases, we face no shortage of stories worthy of thorough and responsible journalism. In order to ensure our student publication has the capacity to adequately cover all of Marymount’s corners, we need to build upon our diverse and engaged staff. We are always looking for students passionate about journalism to join our team. Especially as we move online, we hope you will join us. If you are aware of a story that needs to be told, please reach out to us via email or social media.
I hope you enjoy the new online Banner, and thank you for sticking with us both on paper and online.
