A Place to go Back in Time

I went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival with my parents on October 8th. It was a fun experience and had been something I’d wanted to go to for a while. The music, food, and costumes made me feel like I was in renaissance France. Of course, I was dressed to impress, but it seemed like I was underdressed. The outfits I saw were excellent, and there should have been a contest. I really didn’t realize that people took time and thought into their outfits but I was wrong. My parents and I shared mead, a bread bowl soup, and a giant turkey leg. The food and drinks were delicious, unlimited, and cheap. There were so many things to taste and see. We were able to catch the Birds of Prey show as well. We saw 2 types of owls, a barn owl and an Eurasian Eagle Owl. My mother was even able to catch a picture of the owl at his full wing span.
The site of the festival grounds was three football fields long. It was filled with different activities and shops to look at. All of the items that I saw were handmade. Shields, mugs, swords, jewelry, and clothes were at every corner. I could go on and on about everything that I saw. Everywhere you turned, there was something to see. I stopped by a clothing store and bought one of the dress toppers, the mix of gold and burgundy caught my eye so I just had to get it. I also purchased a bookmark made of natural leather with a cat eye at the top. While the place was packed with people, I had the best time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I would not only go again, but I would recommend it to anyone who wants something fun to do in the month of October. It was fun and will make you fall asleep in the car on the way home, just like the good old days when we were little kids. Unfortunately, the Maryland Renaissance Festival only has three days left, the 16th,22rd, and 23rd. So hurry and get your tickets now because they sell out fast. Huzzah!
