On January 31st, 2025, President Becerra sent a message to the entire Marymount community about President Trump’s new executive orders, which could affect the University and the community.
In the broadcast message, our university president stated, “In light of recent executive orders and policy changes from the current federal administration, Marymount is closely monitoring these developments and assessing their potential impact on our students, faculty, and staff. We understand that these changes—ranging from shifts in immigration regulations to adjustments in funding priorities—may create uncertainty and concern.”
The Banner staff have debriefed and have decided to go into further detail with President Becerra to keep the Marymount community informed about this “challenging time”. The Banner has sought an interview with Becerra about the next steps, and she did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
