A self-described “bohemian-casual-rocker,” Deven is a boho enthusiast who prizes both style and comfort, as well as effortlessness in every look. “I love every part of the aesthetic, but also don’t devote any more than 10 minutes to getting dressed in the morning, so I look relaxed most of the time.” Alongside her love affair with the spirited and nomadic, she also treasures her collection of band tees and the always-chic black outfit. Her inner rock star comes through in her affinity for all things New Age and 90’s inspired.
Nevertheless, Deven’s inspiration is primarily drawn from her infatuation with the American bohemian apparel and lifestyle brand, Free People. “I have a ton of inspiration! I get a lot it from my Free People coworkers – we’re all so different yet somehow we’ve all found an aesthetic home within FP.” She also enjoys surfing the glamorous Instagram posts of countless designers and models, and incorporating aspects of their expert ensembles into her own personal style. “I draw inspiration from my friends too – it’s cool to be in fashion school because everyone is an artist in their own way, so you can appreciate everyone’s ‘look.’”
From dainty to edgy, her favorite wardrobe pieces depend on the season. “In spring and summer, my go-to outfit is boyfriend jeans, Birkenstocks or Rainbow sandals and some flowy shirt that’s probably from Free People.” However, in the winter, she likes to slim things down with fitted black jeans and heeled black booties. Although the items she adores above all others are her long, black printed kimono dress, a stylish pair of fringe booties, and her beloved Led Zeppelin t-shirt.
When it comes to accessories, Deven keeps it simple and natural. “I consider myself a minimalist [so] I usually only go the jewelry-route. Most of my accessorizing comes from my piercings – I never take out my nose ring, and I never go a day without earrings.” In addition, the California native regularly sports a little piece of the Golden State—a St. Christopher necklace. “[It’s] a traditional protective charm for surfers. It holds a lot of meaning and reminds me of home.”
