Chicken quesadillas and chicken wraps are the most-ordered foods at Bernie’s Café at Marymount, the café operator said.
This eatery is located on campus inside the Rose Bente Lee Center. It is open for lunch and dinner so students can buy grilled food every Monday – Thursday from 1-10 p.m. and on Fridays from 1-8 p.m.
Bernie’s Café has a variety of foods on their menu such as burgers, salads and chicken tenders and all their food is made to order. The café sells steak fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and steamed broccoli. For desserts, Bernie’s sells a New York Cheesecake and a giant chocolate chip cookie. The café also offers made-to-order egg rolls and pizzas. Pizzas are served during the hours of 5- 10 p.m.
Bernie’s Café serves food to campus students, but is also open anyone who comes to Marymount’s campus and is seeking to purchase a meal.
According to Marlene Lopez, the Marymount University service operations manager, “Our two top items in Bernie’s are chicken quesadillas: Most of the time we make 45 to 65 orders. Chicken wraps sandwiches and lately Buffalo chicken wraps with french fries: 30 to 40 orders.”
Lopez said that Bernie’s Café’s recently revamped food menu, including chicken quesadillas and chicken wrap sandwiches, which have caused them to become a hit based on the number of orders weekly.
Student senior criminal justice major Mariam Gendy said she eats at Bernie’s “at least two times a week.” Gendy said she orders quesadillas and steak and cheese subs. Gendy said the service is “fast when not many people are there and slower when it’s busier.” Also, Gendy said she would recommend Bernie’s to other people.
Student sophomore graphic and media design major Amira Holland said “I probably eat at Bernie’s 1-2 times a week.” Holland said “I literally only get the Philly cheese steak or the cheeseburger.” Holland said it depends on the amount of people ordering whether Bernie’s food serving time is fast or slow. Holland also said, “I would recommend Bernie’s to students, but if family is coming to see me I honestly wouldn’t.”
Student senior health sciences major Blessing Alegbeleye said she eats at Bernie’s “every day.”
